Tuning to Raise B, Help PLEASE!
I've just restrung my guitar for raised B. I went right by the FAQ on the website. Anyways now how do I tune to it? I have a chromatic tuner. It's made by SEIKO and is called the ST767 Chromatic Tuner. You can chose stuff like what you want to tune what string to. When I tried it kept telling me to go higher. It says is Key of C though. Is Raised B not in key of C? Or is there another way to tune to Raise B? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It lets you edit everything. It says Key of C (you can edit the key), and then you can put what you want the string to be tuned to. So for instance i set it to 6 (the 6th string) and B so it says 6B but when I tune it it wasn't working right. Kept saying to go higher. So I thought maybe it meant the key was wrong.wkpggrvn2001 wrote:your tuner doesnt tell you what each specific string is tuned to?? for instance if you tuned your low E string down a step to D it wouldnt then say D?? Im just having trouble understanding so I can help.

sorry, ive never dealt with a tuner like that or i am completely misunderstanding. someone on the boards should be able to help you, wish i could.
one option, you could always tune it as high as it goes, then go to the nearest string and play a b note on that string and tweak the string where the low E is to match it, if that makes any sense. since it will only be a step off. if it doesnt make sense i will try to explain more. you may be off a few cents but it should still do the trick.
example: if i had it in standard and for some reason couldnt tune the low E string i could match it with the 7th fret on the A string and could compare it to make E in tune.

wow, that tuner sounds hard. but, now i'm confused. he says you can program it to a certain key, so... what does it mean if i were to say, "yeah, my guitar is in "G". would that be the same as open-G tuning? i don't know wtf i'm trying to say, but i've just never seen a tuner like that. and i'm not saying it doesn't exist, but if it does, then what are its benefits?

I finally figured it out. Turns out the tuner just wouldn't read the strings right. I usually have it on manual and input what I'm trying to tune to. Cause sometimes when I tuned on automatic it go crazy and jump all around as I was trying to tune. So I put it on automatic, and it tell me it was B but instead of being the 6th string like I needed it say 4B. So it was just reading it weird. Most important part though is that I got raised B. Thanks for your help though. Now I'm trying to find this tab for Idea of You that was made for Capo 10 (Capo 3 on Rasied B). I think I saw it on Ufck. Now sure. Haven't found it on these boards. Hopefully whatever it was on they made a Shotgun one. I just love how it sounds when Dave plays it. Even though that Capo 5 on the boards is just as awesome. It give me more then Sister, YNK, and Stay or Leave to play on my Rasied B though.
