Dont drink the water help

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Dont drink the water help

Unread post by SPOTLIGHT5584 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 10:08 pm

OK So i think DDTW is very easy but you just have to figure out when to fill in for the verse with the "cool riff" from this site. Kinda having trouble with that but if someone knows exactly when to fill it in let me know...Thanks again

Code: Select all

Verse Part #1 Ends On
E:----
B:----
G:-7--
D:-7--
A:-5--
D:----

Cool Fill
Played sometimes and usually solo
E:--------------------
B:--------------------
G:-7---7---7-7---7-7--
D:-7---5---4-5---4-5--
A:-5---5-----5-----5--
D:-0---0-----0-----0--
If this is what your refering to, the fill is played instead of the verse. You just play the the cool fill while struming twice as much and finish with the verse after you play the fill.
Thats my drunkin' responce, hope it helps.

that should help, he goes into DDTW about 3 and a half minutes into it, and you can see the fill pretty easily

Yeh he uses the fill inbetween singing his lines. As in:

Come out, come out no use in hiding (Regular X755XX)

Then the fill twice

Come out, come out, can you not see (Regular X755XX)

It really adds a lot to the song when you're playing it solo. It's one of my favorites to perform for people.

I was listening to Don't Drink the Water in the campus union today on my nano. At the very time I went to the drinking fountain to fill my water bottle then I heard dave say "Don't Drink the Water, there is blood in the water" Kinda made me think...but I drank the shit out of that water.

I think may be my first post in the guitar forum  I've been playing guitar since summer, I sometimes forget this is a guitar site.

What chords is dave playing during the breakdown before the intense part. "And as I rest my feet by this fire...". I think the chords are posted on the site page

I sounds like the G chord he uses during the "all I can say to you my new neighbor..." part, and it almost sounds like he brings the bass note down a fret, so something like this i'd imagine:

Code: Select all

-----
-----
7---7
5---0
5---5
5---4

That helped me out thanks! I knew how to play the song, just didn't know when to play that fill.
