Typical Situation Intro

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Typical Situation Intro

Unread post by HotBacon » Thu Nov 06, 2003 10:28 am

I know its extremely easy, I (a beginner) picked it up in a few minutes. However, I'm noticing on L@LC it sounds like there is an extra note where I threw in the *:

E:---------------------
B:-----------------------
G:----------------------
D:----9*------9------9-- x2
A:--------10-----10-----
E:-0---------------------

What am I hearing? I've heard on some other live recordings it sounds exactly like the tab, however on some I'm hearing this extra note (or whatever). Thanks in advance for a reply!!

basically dave never plays the same song twice.

He plays a number of things, from that tab, to an extra note where youre talking, or on the second 10, to skipping around and even strumming. Thats just a basic guide, listen to live versions, figure out all the different patterns he plays and then just mix them around at your discretion, he doesnt have a set way of playing it or an order to it or anything like jay said.

Code: Select all

E:-----------------------
B:-------------------------
G:------------------------
D:----9-9-------9------9--
A:----------10-----10-----
E:-0-----------------------
From about 80% of the versions I have heard, including the UTTAD version, he plays that. He doesn't really vary it that much, just sometimes I have heard him strumming rather than the single picking. Also, this is one of the songs that doesn't have the strum/pick thing, it's either picked or strummed. Also, once you are able to get the harmonics going while not dsirupting the song, it's really kewl.

He doesnt vary it that much, your crazy, he changes it up all the time. Normally its just an extra note or one less but still thats changing it.

Yeah he does small variations all the time. He'll double time a note or two, hold for one, whatever. Though some of the same elements are in place, he rarely plays it the exact same way every time.

I said that he dose slight variations. A note or two, a slightly different strumming rythm. You were saying that he never plays it the same, and that it always is completely different.

I am saying that he doesn't change that much, and that he basicly sticks to what I posted. He does throw in another note or two or a different strumming or two. Also, I have heard him play what I tabbed many times. Mostly to every version I have heard, from the promotion for R2T to dave & tim tours, he plays basicly that.
