1993 Dave Solo at the Record Exchange

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Apparently Dave....ALOT....I remember a million shows where he has to stop and attempt to retune his guitar in the middle of the show because it wasnt tuned right to begin with. I remember him doing that in the middle of this show too, so either he cant tune before a show right, or he doesnt tune before a show at all. Probably that he cant do it right, but there could be other reasons.

Or maybe this video was before he could afford ridiculously expensive guitars that stay in tune everywhere.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.

I think that yamaha is fairly nice.

As much as he jokes, DAVE MATTHEWS can tune a guitar.

The only reason his guitar would go out of tune is because he had brand new strings on it which go out of tune fairly quickly.

His guitar was tuned down because the show was in the morning, i believe he even says so in the video. Just because the camera says its 3 doesnt mean anything, hell my camera hasnt had the date and time right since i bought it two years ago.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

i thoughtt he date was off on the video as well.

and arguiing this point ius fucking idiotic. its obvious it was cause it was in the morning. new strings tend to go out of tune right when you string them on and they stretch. the guitar isnt a POS and should hold tune at worst decently. no musician goes on stage without tuning their instrument and I highly doubt he cant use a tuner or tune a guitar before a show correctly.

I really like this video for at least two reasons.

1) I like seeing familiar songs when they were still new, and Dave was young(er)
2) It's cool to see him before they were huge. Most of the people there probably didn't know just how big he'd be.

The pits stains are clutch. I'd have a tought time playing with wall to wall people in my face but Dave does a great job and even then there were requests from die hard fans.

as many of the smart people have said, it was tuned a 1/2 step down to make it easier to sing.

the guitar goes out of tune when you play, he is re-tuning it to make sure it is in tune before he plays the next song...
