is it the Yamaha Country Jumbo CJ-818SB from the satellite video?littlefriend420 wrote:Well it's definitely a Yamaha because it says so on the headstock (5:17 in there's a pretty good close up) It appears to be either an LL500 or an LS 400 or 500. No way to tell for sure.

He always says that as a joke, but really i think its because the show was in the morning and anyone who has ever tried to sing in the morning knows that your voice is usually lower. Just a guess though..czech wrote:Twostep13 wrote:yeah he says somthin along the lines of "...out of tune for effect"Andre_GT7 wrote:i used to have that until i had to format. Awesome vid. guitar is tuned 1/2 step down.
why is it tuned down half a step?

he says that on pretty much every D&T show.guitardmb wrote:Yea. I remember one show he said something to the effect of, "I used to be able to tune by ear, and then I started having trouble with that. seriously.winglet82 wrote:STLflmmkr wrote:and he's not very good at tuning guitars
The odds of him trying to tune a guitar and accidentally tuning it perfectly half a step down are ridiculous. He tuned it half a step down on purpose because it was early and makes it easier to sing.

If you let your guitar sit for around a day or so it will be almost perfectly out of tune on all the strings. Or at least they are for me. So maybe he just didnt tune before he played that day.winglet82 wrote:The odds of him trying to tune a guitar and accidentally tuning it perfectly half a step down are ridiculous. Could be. You can't really see the body of the guitar in this video, so I was just basing it off the headstock.ut4ever8 wrote:is it the Yamaha Country Jumbo CJ-818SB from the satellite video?littlefriend420 wrote:Well it's definitely a Yamaha because it says so on the headstock (5:17 in there's a pretty good close up) It appears to be either an LL500 or an LS 400 or 500. Where do you keep your guitar, in a sauna? My guitars stay in pretty good tune and they all sit on their own guitar stands in my music room.guitardmb wrote:If you let your guitar sit for around a day or so it will be almost perfectly out of tune on all the strings. The odds of dave tuning the guitar a half step down on purpose are pretty good.

If you take a guitar outside to go play at say....I dont know.....a record store.....there is a good chance it would be out of tune when you get there. And yes I agree there is a good chance he did it himself too.dmfollower wrote:Where do you keep your guitar, in a sauna?
