Damn you Loving Wings, damn you!

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Damn you Loving Wings, damn you!

Unread post by Kragh » Sat Nov 01, 2003 8:50 pm

For some reason, I cannot play loving wings right, the whole constant little strumming he does on that one string will nto work for me. Sometimes it will do it right, but i cant keep a constant flow. It angers me that a little song like this gives me so much trouble, but I can play pretty much all of dmb's songs. AHHHH Come on guys, give me some tips! lol
One more thing to add, I can do the strummy thing fine, but hitting the note up and down while the strumming just kinda messes the whole thing up for me.

just play it slow ;)

and relaxing helps...i had a problem with this song at first because i am so used to really forceful struming for dmb songs.

just act like it's an extended part of the stone... heh, seriously, don't play it for a day or so, then try it again, it'll come to you much quicker like that

strum it very lightly, and tilt the pick like you're tremolo(sp?) picking, but only very slightly. Thats how I do it.

yeah a lot of times it's good to just leave a song alone for a while.

a perfect example for me would be the fucking end (that's right the fucking end) of the song that jane likes.

well i found i can play it much better when i place the pick as if my hand was flat against the guitar, like my whole thumb pressing againt it on a 180 angle. I think im gettin the hang of it.

learn it perfectly at about 1/2 to 3/4 speed. then when you got it perfectly there, then you spped it up. It may take a while, but you will get it perfectly!

It's just so crazy that what's easy for some is hard for others, and vice versa. I'm a total guitar n00b, (self -taught playing since April) and that was one song I didn't have any trouble with. Plucked it out a few times, got the feel for the rhythm, and bam! I can play Loving Wings. And it sounds about perfect as far as I can tell. Just get that rhythm down and you should be okay.
