I have a vid of him playing it solo. It's a really quiet version and he never goes into the "come sister" part, but it's nice.wkpggrvn2001 wrote:wasnt there a pig from a farmaid dave played with guests?

Here is the video of Dave playing Pig solo at Farm Aid. The video starts in the middle of Pig and segues into Satellite. It probably wasn't a complete version of Pig.czech wrote:to clarify, he has NEVER played this song solo.
the closest we have come to hearing it solo is "Don't Burn the Pig" with D&T, and in 2001 DMB tour he would play between 2 to 40 second teases before the full band would kick in.
Pig still never being played by dave or D&T.

What is the difference between "Pig" and "Don't Burn The Pig"? I have the Yoshi's version of "Don't Burn the Pig" and the lyrics are drastically different than "Pig" but on the video of the Farm Aid show the lyrics are exactly the same as just normal "Pig" yet it is titled as "Don't Burn the Pig"....
I am confused

how can you say they are the same thing? They have 2 completely different meanings, and one song is just a single basic riff and the other shares that same main riff but has an actual corus and breakdown. how are these the same?Nitro1515 wrote:they are the same thing, the yoshi one is the only one with any kind of difference
Don't Burn the Pig (D&T live 97 san francisco):

thats like saying #36 and Everday are the same song.....

The lyrics on the solo video from Farm Aid are definitely those of "Pig"..."Head down wondering what will become of we, oh you and I could be much more than this, and all I beg is...Don't Burn The Day, Don't Burn the day AWAAAAY.
Is it safe to say that "Pig" evolved from "Don't Burn the Pig" and the lyrics have changed considerably and now the song titles are used interchangeably?
of course. but calling them the same song is rediculous.CWMCALL wrote:czech wrote:how can you say they are the same thing? The DMB road page sometimes writes "Pig" in as "Don't Burn The Pig" when they are in fact the same thing. The one from Yoshi's is very different as is the D&T ones, but that was when the song was first developing. Like Carson said the song titles are interchangeable in today's setlists.
