Next week is a no DMB playing week for me though, from next Monday on I have to practise my balls off for a audition that I have on the 4th of May.

I'm multitalented too. I play sax, guitar, piano, bassoon, and flute. I still play Ants with a slide though.

Players choice I guess, to each his own. I like the hammer on way, i dont think the way I play it sounds any different than when Dave does the sliding instead. I find I lag on the sliding though, thats why I do the hammer on's instead.

Its just a lot of hammer on's, use a Powertab version of it, you will understand the song easier. Dont even try to play it at full tempo cause its hard at first. Mind you I had no trouble with it and its one of the first DMB songs I ever learned. You need quick fingers in order to get it down pat. Not much going on though really, and the string skipping is easy. How long have you been playing?

I've been playing about a year now, I've already got some original songs and stuff. I "can" play his stuff, except I usually dont have the patience. Thanks a lot for your guys's help!

I started guitar in the summer of 2003, although I have been doing music for about 6 years now though mainly as a saxophonist/clarinetist. However even in the last 3 years I barely touched DMB tunes until last summer when I started off with Where Are You Going and Grey Street, although I had learned Gravedigger as a acoustic solo piece for my guitar class just after Some Devil came out, since its sort of a finger style tune. Once you learn some of the harder tunes, Ants is actually really easy compared to Warehouse which is probably one of the harder songs, up there with JTR and Proudest Monkey or The Stone.

i have an easier time playing all those songs over ants... i can play it all the way through, but i find it quite difficult to consistently get the 4/5 5/7 part clean. also, for me, the timing/chord changes of the chorus are a bit tricky to play and sing.

Yea thats the part I have trouble with if I am doing it with the sliding motion instead of the optional hammer ons (which work if you can do it so it sounds like a slide motion which is not easy and takes good finger work)
