Where the hell did that come from?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Yeah, I'm still in the process of saving up, but I've got it narrowed down to a a HD-28V and 710. The Taylor 710 is about $1000 cheaper than the Martin.

I hope you are actually playing these guitars and not just buying on reputation. In my opinion there is a drastic difference in the necks of these guitars. Martin has that v shaped neck, which I can't stand, and Taylors tend to be little thin to me. Still 2 solid instruments. Personally I would try to get the Martin without the v neck. I just think Martin builds to a higher quality standard. I have visited Martin's factory in Pa. (anyone can) and seen their operation first hand. It is impressive. Also, Taylor has been using the 3 piece neck on all models below the 800 series (I think). For that kind of money I want a 1 piece neck. The wood joints just jump right out at you.

Yeah, I'm playing them. What's holding up my decision is the tone. I can't decide between the sweet-sounding Taylor or the "whoosh" of the Martin.

I never noticed a V-shaped neck, myself. :?

I would smash my Larrivee, the love of my life, if I could poop in every Taylor ever made.
I completely agree. unfortunately alot of people that see dave want a taylor. the quality of taylor guitars is really shitty. if you play with band i can see why people would want a taylor. but if you play acoustic shows...dont get one. they are one of the weakest sounding acoustics ive ever played.
