How do you play Stay or Leave?

I just heard this song today for the first time, and I was spellbound. What an incredible song, I can't believe I've liked Dave for this long and hadn't heard this. How does everyone play this song? I'm looking for input, as it's definitely next on my list of songs to learn. Thanks everyone!

It's one of my favs. I play it in standard cause it sounds fuller when I'm playing solo. If it was a duet I would probably use a capo cause raised B would be a pain in the ass. Good luck learning it.

heh...i just tried to get to raised b tuning, and being the idiot i am, i snapped a string...ah well

is there an easier way to do raised b tuning?

Raised B tuning shouldn't be done with regular strings, you'll break them every time. From the Busted Stuff Tab Book:

"[Dave Matthews] uses the following gauges (low to high): .039, .029, .018, .014, .010, .016. To avoid restringing, capo 7th fret and tune 1st string down an octave."

So in other words he uses these strings in these positions:
High E: B string
B: high E string
G: B string
D: G string
A: D string
E: A string

Too lazy to do any of those things and the stong still sounds fine in standard.

yes. on a raised B guitar the high B is actually lower than the D and the F#......BEADF#(b)
