First Song

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Crash? I don't believe it.
Uh. Okay. I disagree. If someone doesn't have lessons and wants to learn a DMB song, they're going to do it.

First for me was Grey Street, then Crash, and probably Satellite.

I played bass before I picked up guitar, so my fingers were pretty dextrous at that point.

I think that to jump right to Dave's unorthodox style of play immeidately will only slow you down in the long run.

But I guess that's why most of us play. We heard a song that we thought was great, and wanted to be able to play it.
That's how I learned to play guitar was through Dave. And I'm not trying to brag or anything, but without lessons, I've come pretty far in just over 2 years. It was basically like learning the basics of guitar through Dave. Now I can look at any song and figure it out pretty easily.

I learned basic chords/names through play Dave songs. IE: LIOG intro ends on Em, A, G. That's how I learned the names for those chords.

I don't remember the first song I learned, but it's not impossible.

i agree with what your saying there but also they are going to miss alot of small stuff like knowing exactly what they are playing, i also believe that this will slow you down, starting off playing a hard song will only get u so far. i have a couple of friends that did this and i look at them now and for the amount of time that they have been playing they should have more "guitar knowledge" then they do! just my opinion

In the risk of each other
Would you like to dance
Around the world with me?"
