DAVE'S GUITARS????????????????????

Unread post by sticksANDstrings » Sat Jan 04, 2003 1:36 am

Does anyone know what guitars (brand/model) Dave used/uses for:
1. storytellers
2. large/arena live shows (example: folsom field)

Also what do you guys recommend for acoustic strings???? I currently use elixirs but I'm thinking I may want some martins....I like to mute/fingerpick a lot too.....

1. storytellers, and most of of dave and tim tours, he used the hd-28. for the 12 string songs (spoon, wild horses) he used a Martin D12-28.
2. live shows he uses the Taylor 914c, W65 (12 string), and a 714 (for You Never Know). He also uses either a Danelectro or Jerry Jones Baritone guitar for the Everyday stuff. Sometimes he will pull out his Martin DM3MD (from listener supported), but its rare. for fool to think, he usually plays a Gibson ES-135. go <a href="http://dmblinks.com/dmbguitars/">here</a> for more dave matthews guitar info.

i know for his latest tour, he used the Taylor 714. i got that right off of the equipment list on the website. Although, if your looking to buy it, you might want to think twice, i found it used for $1800

for acoustic strings, i usually use d'addario mediums, i dont like light strings-they bend too easily, and make your acoustic feel like an electric. i guess for some people, that's a good thing. sometimes i get the bluegrass strings, they have a slightly different sound.
