Acoustic guitar for beginner

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I would check out the musician's forum. There are usually a lot of threads on topics like this. If that doesn't work, I would try the search funtion.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": Dr. Peter Venkman: I make it a rule never to get involved with possessed people. Actually it's more of a guideline than a rule.

This should be all you need...May I suggest a Washburn for your first guitar. They're inexpensive, great quality built and sound great too.

I would suggest a Alvarez. You may have to spend a couple hundred (mine was like 300 with case), but it is defiantly a guitar you will not outgrow quickly.

Save up and go for a Martin! Cuz once you start playing and get better, you're gonna want a better guitar, but at least a martin will last you longer.

But you weren't askin that, i know. So for a real beginner I would suggest getting one of those guitar packages that every music store offers for like $100 bucks. You get a tuner, a case, the cleaner, all that kind of shit. They don't sound the best, but what do you care what it sounds like? You're learning.

With a better sounding guitar, you're going to want to play more. Opposed to have a crappy guitar and hating the weay it sounds, then not wanting to play it. Go with something with a sound you like.

I would strongly suggest an Alvarez RD8. Great guitar for the price! You can get one of those for $200-230 maybe? But I think thats your best bet! :)
