Guitar String question
Guitar String question
How often should I plan on re-stringing my guitar? I have a Taylor 210 that I got a great deal on and it never seems to be out of tune. What is a normal time to put new strings on? How often does someone like Dave Matthews put new strings on?

Re: Guitar String question
Depends on several factors. How often you play, do your hands sweat, are they coming out of tune. It really varies for each person, and it also depends on what kind of strings you're using. I normally go about 3 weeks before changing, but I play quite a bit.zskdmb wrote:How often should I plan on re-stringing my guitar? As for the Dave question, I would assume that he has his guitars restrung before each show.

It really does depend on the way you play and your body. I change my strings once a month but one of my buddies has to change his every two weeks because his hands sweat alot and it kills the strings. And I remember reading an answer from the DMB road crew that said Dave's string are changed everyday.

ive got elixers with nano web coating on my taylor. other than the sound and feel another good way to see if your strings need changing is just from lookin at them. once the coating starts to come off the strings you can see little pieces of fuzz or fluff, thats always a good sign you need to change the strings

I use to go on a set timeline, but now this is what I do since my playing habits are more sporadic now adays with school and everythingReckless Mind wrote:I don't have time to play as often as I like, but I usually do once a month. I don't really time it though, when they feel/sound dull, I change them.
