So much to say

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Unread post by tangeman1 » Mon Dec 30, 2002 8:21 pm

Try playing is slow at first....it's def not the easiest thing but try and play along w/ the video. for the first time around. Only play once, do it until you get it to sound perfectly(one time around). Then try for a second time. Play it slow by yuorself first to get your fingers doing it right then you could use the video to teach you w/ speed....hope that helps...peace

It's not that you were vague in your post so much as the fact that it really just takes practicign to learn that song. Getting your fingers in the right spot is the hardest part and the video's might help you once you can play it slowly through...hope you get it man...keep on practicing...peace

Try different fingerings until you get it. I begin the song by sliding with my middle finger then bar the 5's with my ring finger. Sounds right on to me and just a bit easier I think.

I'm working on this song right now, my guitar teacher actually told me to use my thumb for the slide, and then my index finger for the bar on the 5th. I find it pretty easy to play that way, and I can't get it to sound right playing it the other way.

weird. i guess thats good practice for using your thumb. i agree with ironmike, thats how i play it, cause it puts your 1st finger right in place for the slide. just practice it, and use muting.

Your thumb?@ Who am I to second guess, but I gotta believe if you can get the slide with your thumb then you certainly could get it with either your middle finger or your index finger.

I had a hell of a time using my thumb as opposed to my second finger...just practice it...

you're using your thumb on the slide of so much to say!!!? ...no offense, but that guitar teacher needs to be shot...if you want it to sound anything like the actual song, use your middle finger bro, trust me.

I have no problem using my middle finger for the slide, it's just that I can't ever get barre to sound right with my pinky? I think that's what it says to use, I dunno maybe I'm wrong.

Just cause that's what the site says, doesn't mean you HAVE to do it like that. Your ring finger works just as well. I would suggest fingers 3 or 4 because it's easier ot make the 4/6 slide w/ your first finger after....have a good one....peace
