When dave plays this satelite with tim...does he palce his palm at the bottom of the strungs to give it that muted sound.....or does he do something different?

Can you specify a specific show in which Dave does this? L@LC? During what time of the song? I'll answer very specifically if I can hear an example.

Dave is the master at muting, so it's a fair bet that there is muting...

DMBtabs, welcome to it.

Yea Dave palm mutes at times during Satellite. Just listen for it. I know he does solo and with the band at the start of the song.

I remember when i was learning satellite, i thought that dave was using his fretting hand to mute the notes. I thought he was just hitting the fretboards with his right and picking with his left. Good thing i figured out he was palm muting cause it was getting really frustraiting :P

I think i palm mute the whole song except for the last run through before the chorus when dave and tim both play really loud i.e. L@lc.

I always palm mute whenever I want to play it awfully fast. (mainly in the start of the song)

Then i release the mute and play a little slower.

4-8 is a hard stretch for some. 7-11, for example, would be much easier.

*thanks God that he has huge hands*

#41 is quite possible the hardest stretch for me ever, the chord he hits right before the last one, the higher C, destroys my hand. The one where you have to dislocate your pinky to play that note on fret #8.
