I dont think that can be enforced for a majority of the tabs, as most say:

This file is the author's own work and represents their interpretation of the song. You may only use this file for private study, scholarship, or research.

yea, not to mention it mostly mentioned sheet music, which isn't available for free viewing legally anyway. now the lyrics thing, that's kind of interesting

nm. i see where it mentions tabs. i don't know, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

this is what baffles me. why are people this ignorrant in business?

How long did it take the music industry to realize it cant beat the internet, they've reached an inflection point, so they must take action one way or another.
the smarter companies offered their music online for affordable download.

why wouldnt this company just move their business online? Buy tab books at discounted rates online through them, they would have an enourmous online library, and then charge a fair fee to access the tab book ou wish and have access to print it out. but make it more like a jpeg file so the text cannot be copy and pasted or saved to disk. so the buyer is able to view the tab online and print it. i think a lot of people would pay a discounted rate to get perfect tablature online.

but no, greed is going to be these companies downfall.

Agreed...but they did mention tabs on the internet a lot. I would love for them to try to come after me. It'd be a way for me to finally meet Dave Matthews. I'm sure he'd love to hear how the music industry is trying to shut down a fan site that makes no $$$ and offered to help teach people how to play his music.

This is terribly ridiculous. If I get on this site, who loses? I play a song for myself and for my own enjoyment. Moreover, if I want to learn some B.S. song to bust out while drinking, I'm not paying $X for a book.
This is another example of extending the mp3 debacle into everything else possible, and it's absurd.

Also, like Czech said, I might pay $.50 to learn a song and print it out. That would probably fly with a good bit of the audience.

"excuse me sir, what song are you playing"

"More Than Words"

"We see here that you don't own the tab book we produced"

"well, I just listened to the song for a while and practiced and learned it on my own in my head"

"THAT'S ILLEGAL!!!!!"

"Unauthorised use of lyrics and tablature deprives the songwriter of the ability to make a living, and is no different than stealing," he said.

All I can say is, WTF?!

"The tabs online aren't deadly accurate so if someone really wants to know it they'll buy the book."

The tabs on this site are far better and more accurate than the ones in any of the books.

I liked the part about them not being able to earn a decent living because of sites like this.
