yeah, two step definitely pisses me off a lot because i can't hit that damn high F in the melodygravedigger wrote:I totally agree. Two Step is one if not THE hardest song to do. if anyone disagrees I want to hear them play it from start to finish. I know Cavecricket does a great job with it, but I havn't heard many do a respectful job of the song including myself. I can't sing that damn song to save my life. Tripping Billies and SMTS I can handle. Even the Stone I can handle, but Two Step is different.patrickw25 wrote:I think Two Step is totally underrated in terms of difficulty. The chord changes are easy but I find it very difficult to lock into that rhythm, and then when I am locked in, any opening of my mouth to attempt singing totally screws thing up. Also, its one of those songs that I hear alot of people try to play, but very few play well. I guess all in all, the hardest songs for me are those with tricky rhythms, songs like Tripping Billies, or SMTS are easy for me because of the steady rhythm, regardless of the slides or stretches.
anyway peace.

Crazy. Two step has never been a problem for me. The ability to move my hands around in the chords quickly must come naturally for me. I can make it sound petty dave-like, especially the L@LC version. Even the stone and tripping billies I have the hang of.
But SMTS continues to elude my grasp.

Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead

It took a while to get Two Step. Mainly because I started playing it a lot when I first learned it, and I didn't play it along with any tapes, so I created my own strumming style (that didn't sound right, or as good as dave's, though). So it took a while to move back to Dave's way.
Yes, I am in a box
