Strumming on What Would You Say

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Strumming on What Would You Say

Unread post by CPTino3001 » Mon Dec 16, 2002 11:46 pm

I just recently went to a Dave concert...For some reason, I just now noticed that he strums all the strings during the main riff...I have just been picking the little biatches out...does anyone strum them, and if so...how should I practice it?

P.S. If you can play the stone well, i will name one of my children after you...you suck...*sigh*...

Stone???? Name is Jared.....good name.....I'm expecting to be the god-father also  :D Anyway, yes...he does strum all the strings. Dave is an amazing muter. He does the same thing for Recently. It's not easy but practice using your left fingers(right if your a lefty :? ) to mute....hope that helps....peace

You could go with Chris, too. It's a good name. Means "bearer of Christ." Apparently it also means I can play The Stone, too. It's a damn fun song to play, too. And when the singing comes, it's pure delight.

Hans is a pretty unique name, at least on this side of the ocean. Means lots of different things: gift of God, something like God is gracious, etc.

You're going to have to have a lot of kids :)

As soon as I find a good woman, I will begin to repay my debt to all of you great musicians who deserve my respect...but until then...anyone else strum, or do you all pick?

i strum/pick, if that makes sense. when playing what would you say, i strum it with a pick, but it's not a full out strum of all the strings. with practise, you can develop enough control of your strumming hand to where it looks like you might be strumming, but you really are only hitting one or two strings with the pick. in time, it becomes second nature.
