A different way to play the You Might Die Trying jam (clip)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

A different way to play the You Might Die Trying jam (clip)

Unread post by dmbguitar718 » Sun Aug 28, 2005 2:43 pm

I started an improntu YMDT cover yesterday, but I'm not sure if I'll finish or post it. Anyway, here's the jam part that I did. It's just adds a little spin on the jam if you're going to play it by yourself.

I thought you guys might like it, so I wrote up a tab as well.

Oh, I recorded the whole song in DADGAD, but you can play this jam just fine in drop D.

I loved how you doubled it with the piano. Great sound.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if I'll finish it or not. Actually, I could give it to you Miguel and you could do vocals.

hey, out of curiosity, if you play the jam in DADGBE, how would you play the rest of the song in DADGBE? the tabs intially posted do not sound the same in the drop D tuning.

peace,

"So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice."
