Two Step Help
I have a question about Two-Step. I find it very difficult to hit the 31x3xx chord. I use my ring finger on the 1st string 3rd fret, my index on the 1st fret second string, and my pinky on the 3rd fret fourth string---is this correct?? I have a terribly difficult time getting the 1 to ring. My ring finger muffles it. And when i do get it to ring---the third string is not muted anymore. Any ideas on what I can do to remedy this?
Also-- Are there any videos of Two Step?
Thanks,
Brandon

try to use just your fingertip on the e string, make sure that the fingertip bone is perpindicular to the fretboard so that it wont touch and mute the a string, and as for the a string, put your index finger onto that string at an angle so that you can play the string and mute the other one
these chords require your fingers to be at a certain angle to the fretboard to be able to sound right

like seth said, just tilt your hand up and use more of your finger tip to fret the notes. also, you just need to practice. eventually it will click and you'll be able to switch to these minor chords instinctively.
also, about the D string. you don't need to mute that. in fact, D is the 5th of a Gm chord. so let it ring away if its easier.

This is also true for Tripping Billies (and grey street) I think---you can let the D ring throughout. example--- 2xx2xx or 2x02xxcharliemike wrote:The 1 and the high 3 are the same note. Don't worry if you mute it.
BUT........how do we know for sure that Dave isn't playing the open D?
Isn't it impossible to tell just by watching his videos whether he is muting or letting ring that open D??? Just wondered how JKanter came to his conclusion on the muted D.
