Alternatives for Jams in LIOG?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Alternatives for Jams in LIOG?

Unread post by jazzersize » Fri Dec 13, 2002 1:34 am

Well, i got the song down, but i got to say though, playing the jam riff, which sounds nice, is pretty basic and gets tedious when you don't have the backup instruments. On the Crash version, there's another guitar that adds a bit extra... you guys know what i'm talking about? basically i want to jazz up the long jam a little bit when i'm playing it solo, any suggestions?

also, in the section that jkanter calls, "band comes in here", i can't figure that little bit out. it's hard to tall on the crash version with all those instruments, but to me that last chord (G) just doesn't sound right... is it, or does he play something else?

hmm...i dunno, for that part, i play this:

e-x---x---x----x----x
B-7---5---3----x----x
G-7---6---4----4----6
D-x---x---x----x----x
A-5---4---2----2----4
E-x---x---x----3----5

e-x---x---x----x----x
B-8---3---x----x----x
G-9---4---6----2----4
D-x---x---x----0----x
A-7---2---4----x----2
E-x---x---5----2----3

simple, and it sounds alot "fuller" than the 2 note fingerings...*shrugs* give it a whirl

the "band comes in here" bit can really be played two ways, one with the G and one with the A ringing where the G would be. I personally play it with just the A, i guess it just sounds better. Dave does play the G, though. if you want a good example listen to the LIOG in Red Rocks. I know he plays it there, and i guess you just cant hear it in the studio version and such. Dave ends the song with an A ringing, so for the end you should definitely do that.
