Misc. notes from first row

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

i was just listening to a solo recording of him from 1992ish and he mentioned how he had a second guitar on stage, not for sound or tone or anything different, it's just that he can't play soft.

Thats why I love songs where he fingerpicks so much because it is such a nice quiet contrast.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Like someone said before, during Crash Into Me on 8.16.04 dave broke a string. Monk came out and got the guitar mid song. On the recordings you can hear the missing guitar part. The band keeps playing, Monk brings out a new guitar, Dave says, "Oh please forgive me" I know it is part of the song, but he was singing it a different way, apologizing for breaking the string. It was something truly special.
he's always been much more casual during a D&T show. much less performance to it. He's stopped many songs with D&T, where as the band, we'ver heard those train wrecks and seen many guitar switches, I guess there's just something worse about stopping a whole band vs. just tweo guys on acoustic.
Depends heavily on the song being played, but at a D&T show if Dave's string bust that's a huge difference as compared to a DMB show. You have up to 5 other instruments banging away and making noise. The absence of the guitar riff for a few seconds is not as noticable. At D&T, you better hope Timmy pulls something out of his arse like a third and fourth hand to play rhythm.

Just my take on it but what do I know? I'm not making millions of dollars a year by pounding on the guitar.

The grey street in 01 at the gorge where the W65 completely fell apart, theres a video of him just stopping playing after like 10 of the strings busted and he just switched it out during a lyric break second.
