So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Exactly the one time I remember. The string broke, he kept on singing, took the guitar off him and unplugged it. While that was happening, Monk with a new guitar, they switched guitars, Dave plugged the new one, put it on and kept on playing.

I didn't know Monk re-stringed Dave's guitars every time he took them out. And Dave still breaks tons of strings
yeah you cant exactly stop the song...imagine him stopping watchtower as he holds "howl"...yeah thatd be a killjoy...

in nashville last year he broke a string on billies, but it was the last few bars...so he was just pissed as he left...
last year i saw him bust one during....stay or OSW, can't remember. but he kept singing, then monk came out and switched his guitar while he was singing.

I think it really depends. Sometimes Monk will come out and switch the guitar while he is singing, or sometimes they will just let the song finish. I think it really depends on the song, what string has been broken, how many strings have been broken and where in the song they are.

He breaks strings on his W65 almost every show. On songs liek Grey Street and Bartender he pounds the hell out of those 12 strings.

Last year in Tampa during Too Much his string broke right before the "I told God" part. So he walked off-stage and let the crown sing that verse, then came back and sang it again. Incredible.

Peace.

No he didn't, he didn't play in Tampa last year, or the year before. I checked the FLA shows on dmbalmanac, and it says nothing of the sort. What was the date of the show?

I think the first Joy Ride performance that was recorded he broke a string and you can't even notice.

Well my impression is this. During Jimi Thing it was toward the end of the song after Dave did this sick Jam like he was just going crazy. So they didnt bother giving a new one he just scatted till the end and he played some strings that wernt broken. Then one the other I cant remember what song but it was like the beginning/middle, he just kept singing and handed him the guitar without looking and monk gave him another. It's uninterrupted when it happens.

Then dave just jumped right in. Cuz he's awesome like that.

The End.

This is some crazy mad knowledge that i didn't have before(about the guitar switching). I think the only tim i can remember even hearing a string break was on a dave a tim tour in Denver, uh, 1997.02.17 and he was playing "The Song that Jane Likes" and he stopped the song like a few bars after it broke. They must have gotten better at it as the years have past :P

he's always been much more casual during a D&T show. much less performance to it. He's stopped many songs with D&T, where as the band, we'ver heard those train wrecks and seen many guitar switches, I guess there's just something worse about stopping a whole band vs. just tweo guys on acoustic.

Its the show where the Hello Again on the Stand Up bonus disk is from. I was there, it rocked in ways whitesnake never could!
