So in the tab for recently, the main riff is somethin like this:
E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:----4--------5-----------
D:-------0--3--------5--5--
A:----------------3--------
E:-3-----------------------
2 4 1 4 1 4 4
Now, if anyone has it, listen to how he plays it on the 05-02-1992 show (disc 2, track 2).
It sounds like he's going down instead of up for the last couple notes...something like:
E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:----4--------5----------
D:-------0--3-----5--5---
A:----------------------3-
E:-3----------------------
2 4 1 4 1 4 4
but it's hard to make out exactly what he's playing...any ideas?
Also, in that same live version, he does something that he does in other live versions of the song....i.e. around 35 seconds left in the track, he does something like:
E:-----------------------------
B:---x-x----x----x----------------
G:---x-x--4-x-4-x--5--3--5------------
D:---x-x----x----x--5--3--5---------
A:---x-x----x----x---------------
E:-3--------------------------
Any ideas for that one?
THANKS!

Heres my tab for the recently version from the red rocks cd. This riff is tricky because he uses alot of variation. but for this version. he plays it fast and strums both the d and the g string ( 3-5 strum it like your playing the stone) I think he hits the open g string after that to make it sound a little fuller ( rings over it until you get back to the 3 on the E. ( its a little riff that needs to sound big)
_ I couldnt get the 3 on the d string to line with the 5 on the g string to line up correctly but play them together as a chord
Again alot of playing done on the intro is similar to how u strum and pick on the stone ( the fast up and down)

Dave's style is very unique. He uses his pinky.

i think he mixes it up every time. i think this song is all about feel. you can make it sound however you want. you can really jam the shit out of it and keep the same chord progression going with the individual notes...or you can lay back and play it as simply as you want. very feel type song.
