Strumming on Granny Intro
I've been playing Granny and even though the intro itself isn't that hard, I can't get my strumming to sound right, espcially on the B7 G7 -> B5 G7 -> B3 G2 progression at the very beginning.
Could someone help me out?
Thanks.

just listen to the song...the first 4 chords used are same tempo then pick it up on B3 and G2...the way he sings it explains the way it is played...work on it

Celebrate we will...

I just figured out he changes the speed a little everywhere. hello how are you doing today- everyones got the lick down- when he sings i hope you are feeling healthier the slide is a little rushed. when he really gets into the story he doesnt do it. but its enough to throw you off when you first turn the song on just watch out for that lil d slide u see in alot of country songs. . daves always good with the d chords ( winn dixie@!)Almost like the guitar is talking the tabs dont really explain that. I just love the little slap after the little e string roll.
be cool if he could just come on this thing and square all the records away.
but we might have to tape our mouths shut so we dont bite his ankles.

Dave's style is very unique. He uses his pinky.

about the rushed slide...
that only happens when he doesn't sing if i can remember correctly. its not that hard. i think its just one beat that you take from before the slide and put it after it the second time around.

1) yeah, that happens when he doesnt sing
2) he plays the 1st time w/o rushing anything and the 2nd time he takes a beat during the slide and put it AFTER the slide (when playing the xx032x)
i'll try to make a clip tomorrow...2.26 AM here now!

The chorus part of this song is pretty difficult to get right off, just because the rhythm he uses.
Just listen to the song, and try to play along with it, or just listen then pause the song and try to repeat what he did.
You will get it, just takes time.

Thanks, guys.
I was trying to figure it out using Pat's video, but that wasn't working, which is why I posted it here. I'll just watch it some more.
It's just really frustrating because it seems like such a simple song, with an easy progression, but then I start playing it and the rhythm messes me up.
I'll get it eventually. Haha.
