Dancing Nancies

I've been having trouble lately with Dancing Nancies, the way dave strums the beginning rythmically but he's doing something else and i can't tell what ("he stands...") it's something I have yet to master. I know I'll really use the video when it comes up eventually but until then can anyone give me any tips? Thanks.

Yo, Dancies Nancies uses a variety of rhythm. Dave slaps the strings hard while all of them are muted twice I think in each measure of 4 beats. Its played up tempo so he uses this to keep the rythm going. Also, he hits the high E and B strings open really quickly at near the end of each 4 beat measure. On the last hit he frets both with his index finger on the third fret then the second then the third and so on. He plays all of the verse part(obviously) using the G and F# bar chord constructions. the F# is more like an Fsus4, as you see on the tab. But anyway, the rythm comes from the slapping of the muted strings and then then ringing of the high strings in succession(never skip a strum on them). And when you do it, start soft(not any slower) then pick it up until the final hit of either fret, 2 or 3, which should be the most pronounced. Listen carefully to Recently version. Hope this helps.
