Specific #41 help

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Specific #41 help

Unread post by Lennox » Thu Aug 07, 2003 2:53 am

Code: Select all

Intro
E:--------------------------------
B:---------------8---3--3----3----
G:---5-----7-----4---x--0h4--x----
D:---2-----4-----5---4--x----0h4--
A:---3-----5---7-7---5--5----5----
E:-5-5---7-7----------------------
                       (2) (2)
I need help with the ending of the intro. I can't get it to sound like it should because I'm not sure of the proper number of strums. I think DMB_Jason has it down pretty well from what I've heard and some others do also. If anyone can tell me the strumming pattern for that last part with the:

Code: Select all

Intro
E:------------
B:-3----3----
G:-0h4--x----
D:-x----0h4-
A:-5----5----
E:------------
  (2) (2)
Here's a sample of how I currently play it.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds pretty good. Try pulling off the fourth frets though, like this:

Code: Select all

e---------------------
B---3-----------------
G---0---0h4p0---------
D---4-----------0h4p0-
A---5-----------------
E---------------------
Hope this helps!

Yeah, it sounds fine to me...I am new to the boards. Hopefully I can get a lot of help and tips. I can play about 95% of Dave's songs. I have been playing for around 7 months, but for inordinate amounts of time every day. Quick question though that I was getting at...How do I record myself on an MP3 format like that? PLEASE HELP!

well, I can tell you that there is no pulling off of any strings in the intro...it's really mainly just hard hammer-ons and the rest comes with practice...there's no set way to strum it either.

I don't expect you to believe me, but it's true. I mean I have nothing to gain by lying on a board. I have been playing music for the last 9 years on five different instruments...saxophone, piano, flute, bassoon, and most recently guitar. Music is something that has always come easy to me...Dave songs are tricky, but to tell the truth, that's basically all I play for now. I started playing guitar just to play dave songs...so of course I am going to work my butt off to learn them, and I did. Please can some one help me with recording though?

BTW, by 95%, I mean 95% of the studio albums...I can't play a lot of his covers and live songs besides Granny, watchtower, gravedigger, and true reflections...I also didn't say I play them perfectly

I'd like to hear...just download cool edit or something from kazaa, then you gotta have a mic, and thats all you need....then once you record it, you have to convert it to mp3 format...for a program that does this, go to google, and search for "audiograbber", that program compresses this shit out of files...then go to angelfire and sign up for uploading your songs. if you need help with doing that, go to the "recording and critiquing" forum. firedancer explains how to set it up.

and lennox, your clip sounded pretty good by the way.

dmbfan..you're help is much appreciated...Thank you! If I can go get a mic I can play you some DMB songs on guitar and then layer the sax part on top. My friends and I played Too Much and Grey Street at the school's end of the year talent show and I covered the sax parts. Very fun!

Ok, I will do my best...It might be a while...I supposed Radio shack is the best place for a mic...and suggestions on the "best" mic for a reasonable price?
