i know what you're saying and i pretty much agree, but I still think it sounds amazing, and that demo was pretty shitty quality, we'll have to wait and see.DmbFanJason wrote:I wasn't too impressed with the demo to be honest. It's cool that it gets good sound for both acoustic and electric...however, if I were just looking for an acoustic sound, I wouldn't get this one. I wasn't impressed at all with how the acoustic part sounded. It could be because of the shitty recording though
Apparently Dave has a Taylor T5

I am a writer 8) , I am going to start on another short story soon, I got a KEWL idea, it's so damn KEWL it makes KEWL so not KEWL even though it's KEWL. What a KEWL thing to do. Now all you KEWL cats, have a very KEWL night, and bundle up, it's KEWL out there.checkii wrote:ranting sees things so vividly it is hiollarious. Where one person sees a cool guitar, ranting sees the most elaborate and cool scenario. Seriously bro, you need to be a writer.Ranting Thespian wrote:I don't want a T5 or a DM3MD, I just want a Guild D-40 and an Epiphone Casino. Ten I would be set and happy.
But what would be kewl about this guitar is that Dave could put it on Acoustic and play PNP and right when they get Rapunzel going to switch it to Electric.
P.S. : KEWL

I just think the T5 is a bit like the Porsche Cayenne...a departure from what the company was made famous for doing.
I respect Taylor for this idea and the innovation, but I just think the standard accoustics are better. On the Demo, as you have said, the accoustic sounds weren't that great.
I think that unless someone is in a position of playing live venues a lot with much crossover in the accoustic/electric styles, the money they spend on THIS guitar could be better used ona really great standard accoustic or electric.
But again, don't kill me. This is just my very humble opinion, and I may, indeed, be wrong. 8)

I will wait until they have one at a local store to try out. I'm sure I will never own one of these, but I definitely want to check it out for myself. The electric sounds sounded great I thought. The acoustic sounds sounded to Ovationish to me. I half expected them to show the thing had a bowl back.

Isn't this just a Taylor ovation?
Nevermind. I just saw the Taylor preview.
Interesting that Taylor is doing this. Line6 has had one of these out for about a year now. The problem with these types of guitars is that it's likely not going to do either of them as well as separate acoustic and electric guitars.
Interesting that Taylor would try it though. I have to applaud them for the attempt.

They have 2 basic models. One is completely solid body, and does anything from acoustic 6 and 12, les pausl, and even an electric sitar.charliemike wrote:Interesting that Taylor is doing this. The other one is made just for acoustics. This has an acoustic chamber, and does many stylings, but the kewl about it, you can change the tuning without fussing with the strings, it just does it electronicly.
Now, I only like the acoustic one for the retuning, but the first Variax is a great guitar for someone who needs many guitars for studio recording, and doesn't have a lot of money.

my 2 cents
sunburst looks like shit. looks like a chet copy, the overall shape of the guitar and especially the curve at the end of the fret board.
