Does Dave slights palm mute during Loving Wings? That's what it sounds like to me, or is it just the way his guitar sounds?

Yes, if you can get the video of him playing on Jason Mraz's set, you can very easily tell that is palm muting pretty much the entire song.

For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again

hold your palm against the strings near the bridge with the strumming/picking hand.
Just think Metalica.

It has to be very near the bridge, or you'll completely mute the sound out altogether. If you have it so that part of your palm is actually touching the bridge then you'll be able to maintain a sound, but a slightly muted sound, which is what you're shooting for.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": Do you use this word? Alcoves?

you'll hear it a lot more when dave does solo stuff - you hear it sometimes when he plays the stone solo

I've noticed that he palm muted alot in the earlier days. I wish I could remember the show, I think it was in '92, it seems like he was palm muting every song. Personally I have always relied on palm muting as a crutch when I can't play something clean, but it is a cool sound anyway

He palm mutes for LIOG. He still does the palm muting intro to Minarets, I got a recent one from 2 years ago with a long palm muting scat intro.
Yes, I am in a box

He does on true reflections during the verse.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

urrr I still can't figure out how to do it
How is it supposed to sound? Is it supposed to sound like "chica chica"? Cant you just do that by using your fretting hand? Or am I missing the whole point of palm muting?
