tab for #41

Unread post by 41 » Wed Oct 16, 2002 8:07 am

Does anyone else play the hammer on in the intro on the g string 4th fret, the tab shows it on g string 2nd. It just sounds weird any thoughts?

Code: Select all

E:--------------------------------
B:---------------8---3--3----3----
G:---5-----7-----4---x--0h2--0h2--
D:---2-----4-----5---4--x----x----
A:---3-----5---7-7---5--5----5----
E:-5-5---7-7----------------------
                        (2) (2)

Try to hammer on the G at the 4th fret, not the 2nd....thats what i do, just an add on that sounds cool....ive heard live versions of dave + tim where they do it as well....tried it on the second fret, and it sounds goofey...

WOW!!!!!!!! That tab has been up since I first started my site and NO ONE HAS EVER POINTED THAT OUT!!! Thank you, that is clearly a mistake, the hammer on is supposed to be on the 4's on the G string. Change has been made!!!!! Thanks...peace

Hey, Jared, if you want to be exact like in the luther college(which is the best version of 41 ever i think), you would hammer on the G string 4th fret, then the D string 4th fret like this:

E:--------------------------------------
B:----------------8---3--3------3------
G:---5-----7-----4---x--0h4---x------
D:---2-----4-----5---4--x-----0h4---
A:---3-----5---7-7---5--5------5----
E:-5-5---7-7---------------------------

I had meant to tell you this before, but I forgot....anyway, it sounds so tight like this! This is the best way I think!

I was wondering if you could put up a video of #41. This would really help me get the song down. BTW, great site and tabs, the videos are really helping me get the songs better :D , big thanks for working on this site!!

It just takes time and practice for your hand to get used to it. It will kill at first, but if you keep at it eventually you will be forming the chord like nothing

How do you mute the bottom 2 strings that arent being played when playing this extremely uncomfortable chord?

Even if i try to just strum those top 4 strings i still get some ringing out of the B and high E strings

I mute the bottom two strings with my index finger, kind of like I'm barring the two strings, but lifting my finger up enough to where the strings aren't actually fretted.
