in gcoms ofence (spelled that wroung i think) gcom is a great guitar player who knows his crap.
"Will the people in the cheaper seats clap your hands? And the rest of you, if you'll just rattle your jewelry." John Lennon, 1963, at the high point of the group's set during the Royal Variety Performance before members of the British Royal Family
hmm.. Why the hell does everybody hate Everyday? It has some of my favourite Dave songs. I guess it's just what I think..
I do feel that the new Dave songs don't have the same energy as his old stuff. Maybe it'll grow on me when I buy the CD. We'll see..

some of us play music, some of us listen to music, some of us do both and all in different ways. i hate repeatin' this, but it's all about the music. we forget that constantly by losing our sights to the constant buzzing of the media, of negativity, and we aren't embracing like we used to. i remember how music made me feel as a kid. i remember not sleeping when i played my 90 buck guitar for the first time. those are the things that keep driving me forward, and we all have differing memories and paths but it's not helping us to bash each other for it. you don't have to agree, but you can respect. i asked for gcom's help, and was fully expecting a response. and it did help me, so thanks gcom.

first of all, you're welcome Isacc, no problem, and I agree, power to the music.
second of all, my everyday quasi review/analysis:
I Did It - I like the main guitar riff and the breakdown, fun to play on whole. Reading the lyrics, I dislike the song, playing the song, it's a heap of fun, so I let it slide as OK.
When the World Ends - Great song. Extremely well done on the album. The chorus is just great and intense. One of my favorites despite hearing it half a million times live...
The Space Between - Good lyrics, boring music...so I let it slide as OK.
Dreams of Our Fathers - Stupid lyrics, great music. Killer riff on the guitar...a lot of fun. Sounds great on the album.
So Right - I don't like the lyrics, I don't like the music, and I don't like how it was done. Live the song sounds even worse. Never fills out enough. Very blah for me...
If I Had It All - Great song...good music, sounds good live and great on the CD. Just a really, really solid track.
What You Are - This is a good standard song live, I hate it as a closer, and the lyrics don't do much for me. They feel somewhat forced. Good intensity though.
Angel - Descent music...don't like how it all plays down at parts. The music gets a little cheesy...like the keys in the chorus. If they just kept it chilled out and bluesed it up, it'd be a lot better song, but even so, it's not near as bad as people make it out to be, it's just not very good.
Fool To Think - Absolutely a great song live and on the CD. Good lyrics, great music, and just a great song. SOLID!!!!!!!
Sleep to Dream Her - Ummm, this song is something...the most hated DMB song maybe? Besides Angel, or with Angel...hmmm, well, it's by far one of my favorite Dave tunes. I think the lyrics are absolutely phenominal, the music earnest and encompassing. It totally pulls you in and Leroi's release on the sax is just phenominal. This song is pure intimate passion that is boiling inside someone, and the earnest of the verse combined with the instrumental releasing chorus is just perfect...to me, some emotions just can't be described in words...that's where the music comes in, and Leroi's sax solo accomplishes this feeling for me like few songs I've heard. It's just phenominal. Can you tell I love this song? It blows my mind how so many fans hate this song as I honestly think it's one of THE best songs that DMB does, period.
Mother Father - Umm, this is the biggest piece of crap ever. The lyrics are ridiculous and the music just makes me want to drive my car off a bridge. I hate this song like Hitler.
Everyday - Great song, tons of fun. Doesn't really seem to fit w/ the rest of the album, but whatever, it still works. Great song.
OVERALL OPINION OF EVERYDAY!!!!!!
I think this is the best album they've done since BTCS including the LWS and BS. I think the music is just a whole lot fresher and the production on this album is top notch. Say what you want about lack of jamming and a more poppy gloss than the usual sound, but this album is TIGHT!!! Everything about this album musically is extremely tight and the quality of the finished product is just great. As far as studio albums go, this one really is top notch in the production department, especially considering how atrocious Busted Stuff's production was...hello, reverb?!?! I don't care what any of you say about Glen Ballard and Everyday, but he stretched these guys a heck of a lot more than Harris ever will. If the whole band went in their to write an album, it'd really be pretty crazy to see what came out. I can't say that I don't wish Everyday featured the band more, and I wish Mother Father was gone and Angel was done a little differently. I wish some of the lyrics were a little more thought out, but overall, this is a very solid album. BS may have better/more real lyrics than Everyday, but Everyday is a heck of a lot more of a positive and original stretch in the music department. That is why I like Everyday.

it's ISAAC!!!
good ghandi, it's right THERE.
anyway, read through everyday...i think that's the best thing i've ever heard said about Sleep to Dream Her. remembered loving Roi's sax in there...going to have to dust off my Everyday cd and give the whole thing a listen.
ah...something you might be interested in. went back and started listening to Sexton. remembered seeing him open for Mayer last year, great stuff. felt bad...the crowd seemed disinterested. loved the guy.

ok, i understand many are disappointed with daves new songs, me included. I think so damn lucky is great however. But come on guys, we all put dave on this "god like" platform and expect his next song to always be better than the last. I mean he has written so many unbelievable pieces of music that it must be hard to keep that up. He is only human. Think about the amount of pressure on that mans shoulders. He has millions of crazy fans waiting for him to blow them out of the water. If you really think about it, alot of daves best work was written between 89-92 when he was a nobody. He now has the wieght of the world on his shoulders. Give the man some credit for trying something new. It has got to take balls to release an album by himself (meaning with out the band), he knows that the band makes many of his songs great, and now to do a solo album just proves how talented he is. Dave Matthews will stop writing songs one day and all we will have are the ones he wrote. I cherish this man's music for its brilliance, energy, creativity, and all around greatness. He is the greatest song writer of our time hands down and i will love and support him and his music to the day he dies. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but lets step back and look at it from another view, Sorry for rambling. Peace, Timmy

I did it
Do you think I've gone too far?
I did it
Guilty as charged
Really, I mean, lets give dave a break. He's said this was going to be different. This isn't DMB, this is dave trying something new. I'm gonna give it a few listens before I let y'all know what I think.....

kinda going back to what you were talking about...the mp3's. They really aren't THAT bad. i mean you guys sound like you have to go wash your ears out just for hearing them. See the fact of the matter is that nothing that dave puts out will ever be old dave. and most of us started listening to the old dave. that is the sound we fell in love w/. but the stuff he is putting out is still better than anything else out there in my opinion. i mean what else do you have, neo punk bitches and hoe's? i mean come on.
Second of all, i love gravedigger. i heard it first at the 3-29-03 concert acoustically of course, and fell in love w/ it. and i dont' even need to mention stay or leave because i think that's better than almost anything that everday put out.
The only thing im confused about is when i heard dave was going solo, i figured it would be guitar stuff w/ some timmy in the background. Who are these musicians if they're not dmb. i mean, does dave think he can get a better drummer than carter? i guess i just havne't really been keeping up on the whole situation so im kinda confused. and will he be playing these new songs w/ the band?
well to wrap it up, the new dave isn't the old dave. i love the old dave, just like fatjack said, i know of like 3 or 4 albums that i like every song on. and BTCS is the only dave cd that i can think of that i like ever song. maybe this will be good, maybe it'll suck. but it'll still be better than anything else that's out there right now.
Especially if he gets the new jewel to be in his videos.

I just want to cry. What happened to gravedigger? That was such a good song, and now its all fucked up. I'm listeing to Save Me right now. I am not going to finish listening to the song. I'm just going to go find a bazooka and shoot myself in the face.

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then give up. There's no use being a damn fool about it.
