i only use my index and middle... i find it easier that way. Dave uses 1 and 2 for the 2xx2, 3 and 4 for the 3xx4, 1 and 2 for the 5xx6 (except when he plays the 4 chords fast), and 3 and 4 for 7xx7

I use my thumb and index for 2xx2 and 7xx7, and my thumb and middle finger for 3xx4 and 5xx6. But thats just me. I do the same thing for granny, too much, LLD and the LIOG jam. For some reason I find it so much easier to mute the two strings in between with those fingers. My accuracy is better with those fingers also, especially on the chorus.

I do the same as shane. its the dave way. you use the the only varitaion of fingerings is when you play the four chords in succession quickly. then you go: 1,2 3,4 3,4 3,4
(2xx2) (3xx4) (5xx6) (7xx7)

i use only my index and middle, as shane mentioned. i thinks it's easier than any other way. plus, it seems to make more sense.

if dave were playing, say, 3x54, or 5x76, he would use his index on the E, middle on the G, and ring on the D. so why would he not do the same on 3xx4: index on E and middle on G. it seems inconsistent. but who cares cuz it works best for him. but for me, index/middle works best for all those billies-type chords. and it makes it so easy to mute all other strings with my index, and ancillary benefit.

also, couldn't the song be played: 2xx2, 3x54, 5x76, 75x7 ? .... a fuller sound. just a thought.

I use my index/middle for the 2xx2 and the 5xx5 and my ring/pinky for the 3xx4 and the 6xx7... just think its easier due to I can use my pinky a lot more then I used to be able to

um...i think you mean 5xx6 and 7xx7.
about the whole which finger to use thing, i'd just rather do what dave does(there really ought to be bracelets..wwdd j/k)
i think if you watch dave play you would see how easy it actually is when you do it his way, plus you know your doing exactly what he is and so then you just have to work on your strumming....which is the fucking hard part.

Once you learn playing it using all of your fingers, like dave plays it, ou wont go back. It's much more precise and quicker...and it flows right into the beginning verse chords. :D

Yeah, for some reason I didn't find it EXTREMELY hard to sing to this song...i woulda expected it to be. But it just kinda came in rhythm with everything.

If you can think about the drumbeats in your head...its a lot easier to sing to.
