phospher bronze or bronze?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

My personal preference:

Markley Blue Steel, TMD (True Medium) or Martin Bluegrass.

Yeah, I go through alot of strings...but that last three weeks when they're dead on and melow is groovy.

i always use the martin 92/8 pho bronze lights
personally, i think they have way better tone than the regular bronze... and the nice tone lasts much longer
but thats just my opinion :) so try 'em for yourself

i'm using the Elixir Nanoweb Lights for the first time. they're a lot easier to play, and cut down on finger noise, and supposedly last 3-5 times longer. BUT, my strumming (pick) shreds the low strings over the soundhole fairly soon. does this happens to others?

SHANE: why do you play the Elixirs? and on another note, i thought i read in another post that you have never seen DM live? that surprises me. not like i'm the dmb touring machine. i've seen dmb live at the Gorge five times. course, i live in Seattle.

but i will say, i've seen Dave around the UW several times ... said hi to him once while he and the little lady were shopping on the Ave. he lives about three miles from me, but i doubt he'd help me figure out a riff if i suddenly stopped by. so, were all in the same boat on that.

ahhhh. but it would be nice to have a beer with the chap and listen to his friendly banter.

I use the nanowebs as well and the part of the string I pick is what wears out for me

I've tried Daddario bronze strings, and I think they had a much duller, folky tone than Phosphor Bronze. Bronze strings seemed to sound good with Bob Dylan, strummy strummy by the campfire tone to me.

I prefer phosphor bronze, but try em' all

related question...How thick are dave's strings on acoustic. i used to play 13's but i can get a great sound w/ 12's out of the martin...but im lost as far as electric. does the baratone guitar use thicker strings or electric strings? and/or when and if dave ever plays electric...how thick are they?
