Daves Strumming hand

Unread post by Senior Gomez » Sat Dec 25, 2004 1:26 pm

Ok, i was watching the CP DVD i got my dad. I been noticing that when dave strums its just so effortless like a little butterfly or somethin haha. But seriously, ive been playing seriously for a year and i might be sounding like a ninny, but is it all because of practice or just his talent. (who else plays an A like he does for Trippin billies)

Just practice and you'll be able to play just like it.. I play any dave song just like dave does.. I have a very percussive strum like dave does, so I find dave songs semi-easy to play.. just keep playing and you'll be able to strum like dave does

Yea, most people who work at strumming it out like Dave can come to do it well. Just do it, only if you want to sound like Dave, don't try to do it if you want to mold your style with others... It becomes consuming.

Play like yourself, not like Dave Matthews.

I can play billies just like dave, but I like to do my own thing. I also love to fingerpick, yes fingerpick, the song.
Yes, I am in a box

Too bad dave has carpal tunnel syndrome as a result of his strumming style.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

i've got the same kind of strumming as dave does, and i learned it before i started getting into dave. it was what came naturally, so dave's stuff came naturally to me to.

i have a pretty percussive strumming style, im sure it has a lot to do with influences such as jack johnson, dave matthews and others, but i dont do it to sound like them its kind of subliminal i guess

Playing for a year, unless its ALL you do, is not enough to play DM well.

Just keep playing.

yeah, ive had my acoustic for a year, i mean i can tell im getting better at things but i know that im definatly no where near as good as dave is and i get fustrated but then im like "oh yeah, he has been playing for quite a few years and im trying to play the end result" its kinda like someone who just learned how to make coolaide want to make some dish that emerald lagassi guy cooks up. haha

Lol, you make it sound like it's this huge accomplishment.

Not to be an ass.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.
