How does he do it?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Me, I have always been able to write. I have, though, improved over the years, My first stuff doesn't flow as well as my new. When I write, I just have to find the first few lines and BOOM, it just breaks down the damn and the creativity just pours out. It only comes so often, though. When I try to force it, it sucks, but when I hit it, I hit it.
Yes, I am in a box

Forcing music only seems to bring out pop tunes like Cabrerra, boy bands, and pop queens. I think that if you try and force it, you will come up with the cheesiest BS that is so predicatable that it's garbage. Songs seem to come from living life......writing about something that you feel or have experienced in your life.

And let me return back to non-corny land. Uhhh.....boobs.

the way i typically write, well, theres 2 things... sometimes im just inspired to write lyrics and i do so, and it comes out nice...

other times, i dont know if you know anything about acting, but theres something called the emotional aproach to it. and you use sometihng called emotional memory, so if you character is suposed to be happy or sad, you think back to a time and event when you felt that, and let those emotions behind your experiances drive the scene your acting in.... what i do when i have some music, and dont know what lyrics to use, ill play the song, see how it makes me feel, then think back to a time when i felt that, and use that in the song and you can recall old emotions and feelings for your writing.

I am the same way. I don't play any songs anymore that I wrote years and years ago, I just can't stand them. They were so...juvenile. My ability to use metaphors and the english language in general has vastly approved since I was like 12 or 13. My best songs have been written by picking up the guitar, noodling until I find something good, and then beginning to sing. The best lyrics just come right out as I play. If I don't write them down, that music will never have lyrics. I can not sit and just write lyrics to a guitar part. It all has to come at once. If not, then I write the lyrics first, with a melody line in my head, and then write the guitar to back that up.
