Honestly, a huge factor in this tune is the tim reynolds part, I pieced it together from the live at luther college tabs and the album tabs. It really ties in with the rhythm and makes all the difference in the world. Beautiful arpeggios.
The DMCB is officially broken up. 2-Step is stepping up to be the next best national tribute to DMB.

everyone i've met that thinks they can play it right can't. If your not using your pointer, middle and pinky in a warehouse fashion then you aren't playing it dave's way. true, live at the ten spot he barres at 3rd but generally he plays it the same way as above.

I don't know if this is your problem, but I have a friend has had a hard learning the song and making it sound correct. I picked up his guitar and started playing it and it definitely didn't sound as good as on my guitar. I then realized his guitar strings were a lot bigger than mine and definitely more difficult to play, especially for a beginner. Now, I'm not saying you're a beginner. Once he changed strings, after a couple of weeks he got it down. Now, I don't know if the extra practicing helped, but I know the strings made a difference. I believe he switched from 13's to 11's.

Ya ranting! ::high five:: fellow finger picker for the most part, is what i am, and thats how i learned sattellite, it was one of the first dmb songs i learned, a few months after istarted playing i learned it, shortly after crash and where are you going...
anyway, if sattellite isnt working for you with the pick just try it with your fingers, to me its just more natural that way.
Satellite seems kind of overwhelming in the beginning (the intro) but after a wihle, it just becomes a muscle reflex kind of thing, and you dont even think about it. i know i use satellite to show off alot. ..
i also barre the 4th fret and use all my fingers when i play.
