He definitely popped a string at the Kohl Center. Can't remember during which song, but it looked like his low E. And he looked more than a bit irritated about it, too. He walked back by Carter and was obviously telling someone to get him a different guitar and was shaking the guitar at someone back there, and the string was flying around. In my head it went kinda like this:Ranting Thespian wrote:I believe he broke a string tonight at the Kohl Center, but kept going, and you wouldn't notice it unless you saw it.
Guitar:*sproing!*
Dave: Shit! (to roadie)Hey, I broke a string. Can you help me out
Roadie: Huh?
Dave: My fucking string! (waves guitar and string at roadie) What are we paying you for? Get me another fucking guitar, man! (Gets new guitar, curses roadie again, continues jamming)
Of course that conversation probably never took place and it all happened in about 3 seconds, but hey, that's how it looked from my seat.
Oh, yeah. I was also a little suprised that it was his low E. How do you pop that thick fucker? I've never even snapped my G or high E.

i believe its just a freak occurence in some situations, the only time a broked one was playing a harmonic.seth_southerland wrote:how do you break a string in the first place, ive been playing for almost two years and am yet to break one, i'm guessing the gauge of the strings would have something to do with it, i use .10 gauge strings, are these relatively easy to break?
PS. NO SOUP FOR YOU!
