Beginner advice
Hello all, at the end of last year, after learning for about 6mths, i decided to buy my first guitar. within my budget i got a good deal on a martin dx1 guitar new for under 400 dollars. dmb is my favorite band so i started to try to learn them. i have been teaching my self and have learned a little of their songs. i just have 2 questions.
1. how does my guitar stand up for a begining guitar and compared to dave's songs?
2. what songs can i learn easily? my first song from dave that i learned was crash. i picked it up in a week. i know everything on that song. what songs compared to that one can be easy for me to learn. i love two step and number 41. are they easy for me with what i know. im still getting use to hammering and bending. i just normal have rhtym with regular chords. i have gotten better with barred chords.
any advice will be acknoledge.
thank in advance

Re: Beginner advice
Probably the best guitar for the money. I have one. It was a toss-up between the DX-1 and a Seagull S6+. I went with the Martin as the Segaull's fretboard is a bit wide. I paid $385 for the DX-1 out the door. Under $400 is a decent deal. Do a few searches on these boards and you'll find a lot of recommendations for beginner's songs...monty23psk wrote:within my budget i got a good deal on a martin dx1 guitar new for under 400 dollars.
Proudest Monkey and Typical Situation, it doesn't get any easier. If you're looking for something a little less repetitive, Christmas Song was the first thing I learned. #41 is great for getting used to stretches (you're gonna need 'em for Billies.
). Halloween is just plain fun beating the crap out of your strings. Song Jane Likes is awesome once you get accustomed to basic chord changes.
I'll give you one tip though, if you ever have the desire to play Busted Stuff, Stay or Leave or You Never Know, do not (I repeat.. DO NOT) attempt to tune up to B tuning. You'll get a string right in the face.
