Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum, so yanno, don't hurt me too badly...
Well I think both John Mayer and Dave are a helluva lot better players than most people, so what does it matter? I mean, so one person thinks John's better, another thinks Dave's better: we're all entitled to our opinions. I just think it's silly that we're arguing, because they're both amazing at the guitar. Just my two cents.

Let me just end the argument right now. John Mayer may be a good guitar player. He may have really cool guitars. He may be able to play extremely difficult chords.
Dave Matthews is God. 'nuff said.

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then give up. There's no use being a damn fool about it.

ok....i wasn't going to reply to this, but why not????
ok, lets begin with the fact that mayer has his moments...especially on his studio recordings...but live?? i've seen some tv performances, and i know some die hard mayer fans (poor souls), and even they said he was horrible; making mistakes everywhere...the amazing thing about dave is not the songs, hell, none are that tough...but how he sounds perfect live, both solo and somehow with that diverse band....does this mean that dave is a better guitarist than mayer? probably not (sorry to say dave fans) but even i have had some amazing moments, and i caught a few of those on tape....the real point of all of this is that neither of them (although mayer is the one who is trying) is the greatest guitarist (listen to al dimeola or steve howe) but both have managed to make amazing careers playing their guitars....
hope that wasnt too much rambling, and im waiting for the backlash
later...
