Rhyme or Reason

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Rhyme or Reason

Unread post by heathcliff » Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:33 am

I stayed away from this one for a while I cause I guess I thought it would be really difficult. Learned it over the last couple of days and what a great song. The verse really isn't that hard to play or to sing to, the chorus is easy and great to strum, although I think I scared the dog with my Dave impersonation.

If you don't play it , I suggest learning it.

I love that song. It's a great cover to do in a open mic setting...where everyone else is doing "Take It Easy" and "Desperado" covers.

Rhyme and reason is a great song to play for others cause your hands look so cool playing the verse :P

Just to let you know, it's Rhyme & Reason. I'm being picky, I know, but still.

Yeah. R & R and The Stone are my favorite songs to play for others for that reason.

Well, speaking of the meaning of this song. At open mic tonight, one of the hosts who is (was) in the local band Stone Float, said that he was sick last week because he almost killed himself with cocaine and alcohol. He said he has been addicted to cocaine for years, and that this experience made him go into rehab. He said onstage about it, and how he wish he did it sooner. He also resigned from the band, because he knew he couldn't take it with sobering up. I was very impressed about how he went to rehab himself, and he admitted it in public.

I am sad to know he has left the band (he will still come to open mic, though). I shook his hand many times tonight for him taking the courage after that near death into rehab. I bet he felt pretty much what Dave felt when he wrote R&R about his experience with herion.
