Dave's setup

Unread post by ihopeyoulockedthedoor » Mon Apr 28, 2003 2:18 pm

I've been working to get Dave's setup...I use a Martin with a fishman matrix saddle pickup....does anyone know what amp and cabinet he uses? Ive been going between a fender twin and a vox ac30...it sounds ok, but I'm curious to know what he uses.....(I have a b-day on the way and the wife wants some hints)....if anyone knows his effects loop it would be cool too.....

Actually, I *believe* Dave goes through a POD and then straight into the PA whenever possible. This is what their road site says:

Shure UHF Wireless System
Meyer Sound CP-10 Parametric Equalizer
Eventide GTR-4000 Ultra-Harmonizer
Line 6 Guitar POD
Korg DTR-1 Digital Tuner

Not necessarily in that order, but that's the gear he uses. I think in some smaller gigs, like in-stores, etc. he uses a Trace-Elliot acoustic amp. I can't back that one up, though. He also uses a Fender amp for playing w/his Chets, when he does. He runs a mix of the signal from the Chet through the PA, and then runs it into the Fender and crunches it a little with the overdrive to get that classic tone he's famous for. Hope this helps. :)

i dont know his settings, but ive been switching between the jazz clean, small tweed #2, and britt class A #3 depending on how much treble i want (i tend to keep my EQ's even)....this seems to be working fine for now(the line 6 blues isnt bad either)....when i play solo (or with just one other guitarist), i use the chorus and a slight delay built in....for the timmy solos, i use the marshall setting completely clean, and i bought a treble booster pedal for his slide work...by the way, i use a martin for dave's parts and i switch between that and a 335 for timmy's parts (the gibson has a very bright sound). try these out, and if anyone else has any ideas, please post them.....

If you go on Kazaa and download the 1999 Woodstock performance of #41, there's a scene where you can see his amp in the background. Looks like a Twin or something. Can't quite tell... maybe one of you experts can?
