Dave now using capo

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

well kyser isn't the only brand that makes that style, but yeah
whats wrong with those, thats what I have and it works fine for me, I like it. What do you use or suggest?
I think they're ugly and they use too much pressure. I use Shubb capos.
What, like these: http://www.shubb.com/deluxe.html

I dont really think too much about the aesthetics of capos but I think my kyser one looks fine, isthe pressure really that much of a deal if its only gonna be on there for 10 minutes at the most?
the pressure on my hands when i put them on, take them off is a pain too. Whenever I put them on it bends the strings. You have to be exact with Kyser's, otherwise your intonation is all off. I'd rather just use a shubb.

I guess I dont pay that much attention to the intonation cuz I normally just use them when Im messin around, Ill look into gettin one of those though if I got more serious about them.

I was told by a good guitar tech that the Keysers can cause excessive fretwear due to how much clamping tension they use. I prefer the Shubb Deluxe myself.

I also use Shubb and the clamp capos cause excess tension on the strings which also cause ur guitar to go out of tune more quickly.

i have a Victor Capo. i wouldve bought a Shubb if i had the chance, but im waiting for my local shop to get a Shubb cut capo. i have to retune my guitars when i flip over my kyser to use it as a cut capo.

with kyser capos used as cut capos, it kills me. ill put it on, strum, and be grossed out and have to tune up. its horrible.

kyser should die for making such capos.

I'm a bit of a anti-capo guitar purist, I'll admit, because I take pride in being able to play in every key without one. I use one when I have to, but whenever I am soloing or doing lead parts like timmy's I never need to use one. I use them for songs that absolutely need them, and am not really against them, but I just am too proficient on the guitar to depend on it.

I use a Bird of Paradise capo.. it's pretty cheap, and doesn't throw the guitar out of tune because you can apply as much or little pressure as you want

I think the Shubb ones are the best of the pack... at least for western guitars.

Yeah, not shit right? Hacks like me enjoy the capo because it's easier than transposing chords in a different key and it's a great tool for songwriting ideas.

EDIT: BTW, I use Kyser and have had the same one for a couple of years. I like mine and it's old enough that it loosend up a bit. I don't find any tuning problems. I used to park it on my headstock until I got my Martin, and I've heard the rubber on the capo, at leat on the Kyser will take the foil logo off over time.

it's basically a capo you squeeze so it opens up so it fits around the neck.
