i just tried it jsgksu's way and i have to say that its a lot easier for me cause i was always going back in with my ring on the two 5's and i would sometimes miss it. i don't know though, i've always tried to play the way dave does just to be sure i'm getting the right sound down, but will say that everyone has their own style so maybe i will start playing that way. thanks jsgksu!

No prob, just cuz youre not holding the chord like Dave does doesnt mean anything at all though. As long as your playing the same chord your gonna get the same sound, dont worry about being exactly like Dave in every way. I think you should play the song the same way he does but dont worry about chord fingerings being the same if one way is easier for you. I dont think that makes you any less authentic.
