Live At Folsom Feild II & Jack Johnson

That is an awesome DVD, I wish jkanter had a section of the tabs for the songs played on that DVD. I mean what better tabs to learn than to learn the ones Dave plays live. Jkanter also have one more request, and man yes I know it is a pain but how about putting the full lyrics along with the tabs with the chords above them, helps with singing and rhythm.

Second Topic I wanted to discus was about Jack Johnson. I will be honest I am pretty new to his stuff, and I have become a big fan quickly, but since I have been playing so much Dave, I have noticed a lot of the same syle in Jack. Any one else notice that? Jack rips off a lot of fills it seems, but he does it well. Any ways just bored and drunk playing my guitar at 4:30 in the morning hating/missing my girl. i beg to differ.

i dont find Jack's style similar to Daves at all. id put him in the same group as Dave for the bands that i like the best.

for the most part, jack johsnon uses barred chords and his rhythm is actually quite simple.

i see a lot of people trying to compare Jack to Dave, but i cant seem to find ANYTING similiar--besides the fact that both of their lyrics are pretty sweet.

i would like to hear a good arguement FOR Jack sounding like Dave, because no one has really persuaded me. in fact, im listening to Jack now--and i find NOTHING to be similar.

I agree with Hash, I havent really heard any similarities between Dave and Jack, except that they both rock. When you listen to both of them you get two different sounds that really aren't similar I think. It could just be that they are both excellent guitarists and sometimes the stuff just sounds like the same, but really it isn't.

Id like to know in what way the are alike, I can play a lot of both of their stuff and I dont see any similairities at all. Jack plays a lot of barre chords with some cool quick riffs in his songs and we all know what Dave plays. I really cant see much to compare the two. Whats your arguement for this?

And as for your first comment, the tabs on here is the way that Dave plays them live. Jkanter tabs them by watching hundreds of videos of live dave concerts and watches his hands closely. Everything on here is how Dave plays it live, there may be a little intro he played somewhere or some slight change thats not on here and if youre looking for something like that just post here and we'll try to help.

i totally agree with everyone i dont see any way that jack johnson is trying to rip off anyone, his music is really original, and although many other people have played using his style in the past i find him unique.

First lets start with the easiest of the two. I understand he tabs them all from videos, I was talking about live as in on stage like the Folsom Field DVD, sure would be a lot more help than the well agreed upon rank of Curt Mitchells DVD. Just said it would be nice to have that as one of his sections like he does for all of the other cd's. Trust me I am grateful for all jkanter has done as well as the time he has invested.

Now with Jack... Not sure if I was that drunk, or just pissed/missing my ex, but I just started listening to Jacks songs maybe a day or two before. I have been listening to him since I posted that topic and I can't find where I drew that from. I am still rather new at guitar and yes, as I have been learning Jacks songs it is a completely different style with barre chords like Flake. There are just some times when I listen to Jack I find myself thinking it sounds familiar.

Regardless they are both lyrically and rhythmically awesome.

There are no sections for Live CD's. There would be way too many. There is a live section for all the songs that are played at these live recordings and JKanter uses these DVD's to do the tabs. so all the songs are tabbed and are either under their original official release or undetr the "Live" section.
