Rating Dave Songs Technically
Rating Dave Songs Technically
Hey, I am a student guitar player, just learning. I was wondering - What would you say is the least difficult Dave song, technically speaking? I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew, and I thought it would be an interesting question to see how you all answer. I assume most of you have been playing for a while and I would like your input.

I guess I'll start with my 2 cents. I don't think its the easiest, but it is fun once you get it down. I still don't have it quite the way I'd like to have it but I work on it from time to time. I like the slower versions like on Luther College. The jam part is fun but maybe tricky for a beginner - the muting and percussive slaps and stuff.
anyway, have fun with the tunes. It's a lot of practice but its worth it
peace,
Ken

i was wondering what this guy was talking about, then i realized he thought he was talking about the song "what would you say?", but he was actually saying what do you think is the easiest song?.gravedigger wrote:I guess I'll start with my 2 cents. I know that if you listen to and look at the tabs for Satellite, the main riff looks daunting, but technically it's pretty easy to pull off. It's not too big of a stretch and you don't have to be insanelly qiuck to play it, just start off slow until you've memorized the pattern and then gradually speed up until you can play along with Dave.
Also, since no one else posted this, Proudest Monkey is REALLY easy...

I just finished learning Bartender and it was the easiest song for me to learn so far. Only have to worry about 2 strings. There is muting but it's very easy to do. And it's a Dave classic to boot.
But I have yet to learn Typical Digging a Big Eyed Fish so I can't really compare it to those.
Now to play some Crush since I'm already in drop-D.

very true, satellite is very easy once you get the pattern down, I almost said that as well.Levi wrote:I know that if you listen to and look at the tabs for Satellite, the main riff looks daunting, but technically it's pretty easy to pull off. i agree, satellite is kind of easy. i love to switch the way i play it, you go from the long finger-stretch to the medium hand stretch and then to the barred at 3rd fret version. it would really give you a head start on the hand stretching and scales too.
