So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I also watched Ants marching and he does strum the 4/5 to 4 to 4/5 to 0 and the 4/5 to 5 to 4/5 to 5/7 in the verse. Watch the ants marching video. he looks like he mute in front of the 1 and 2 finger with the 3 finger. All I want is to get to the bottom of this and I get alot of different opions.
You are 100% right that he mutes the top string with his 3rd finger. But that's Ants Marching. Dave does also mute some on OSW but its not as much becasue the song is overall a little slower than Ants. Basically you can try to hit each note itself but always keep your 1st finger there to mute just in case you don't hit it perfectly

Jkanter I apologize for the thread I added (new @ this board stuff) will not happen again. I think it's time to put this topic to bed. I got some great input and will take all into consideration. I hope everyone got something from this. A year ago I thought he picked alot of his stuff, later to find out by watching dvd's he doesn't and all the songs I thought I knew I had to learn again.

Thanks All
Tom

No need to apologize for that; it happens. :)
