stay or leave in standard (thanks for the help!)

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Stay or Leave (Live from Millet Hall, Miami University 3/31/03)

Transcribed by David

I've seen some tabs with capos, but when I saw Dave do this live, it didnt look like he used one.

These two make up the verse pattern. The verse consists of A B A B

e :0--3--2--0-|
B :0--3--3--2-|
G :0--0--2--2-|
D :2--0--0--2-|
A :2--2-----0-| chorus x's 3 Then verse pattern and chorus again.
E :0--3-------|
(chorus)

After second chorus go into bridge 1

D :2----2----0----0----6-----------------6---5---|
A :x-------5----4-----------5----4--4------------|
E :4--3------------------7-----------------------|

(bridge 1)

its important to emphasize the single bass notes in the above. This leads to a sorta verse

That's because he whipped out a DM3MD in raised B tuning. No access to a guitar right now so I can't try out your tab, but thanks for your work - a lot of people have wanted it in standard.

Was it a DM3MD? I know it was a Martin, just wasn't sure it was a DM3MD. I wonder why he used the Martin in full band shows for YNK instead of the Taylor.

thats weird, this is without a capo right? becuase there is a standard tab over at ants (just the verse and chorus) that is in standard, but its played up around the 5th 7th adn 8th frets. ive played it and it sounds good to me. im not saying your tab is wrong i was just wondering how 2 completely different tabs can be for the same song. please fill me in if im missing something.

For Dave fans it is "THE" Martin. It is the signature guitar of Mr. David J. Matthews.

The wood just didn't look right I guess, if he brought the DM3MD out for Stay or Leave what was he playing the rest of the time?

I know he has three of them, but the one he brought out for Stay or Leave, and YNK for the WInter tour, looked different than a DM3MD. The wood looked too light.
