whats do you think the hardest single part of any dave song?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

its kinda humbling when i can play and sing to the stone, just about everything else at least decently, but i cant get that little part of jimi thing down. the part "some times i take a jimi thing". just cant sing and play to that for some reason. of all the ones i already know, fool to think took a long time, and warehouse also took a while. i didnt even try to learn the stone until after i had been playing for a good while, so that didnt seem nearly as hard.

yeah it's weird how it works...simply put i think it's due to the fact that we've all developed our own styles while learning these songs in different orders and therefore some songs that may seem harder for some are easier for others and vice versa... it's tough to stick to one song when practicing...i always end up jumping from song to song instead of just focusing on one song at a time for a longer period

Satellite verse. I have it down now, finally, but my hands still cramp up like a mother f***. It took me over a year to get.

I agree, and I think a lot of it has to do with the many non-Dave songs I'm sure (at least I HOPE) we all play. The way you learn also determines the way you write.

I've been playing alot of these tunes LITERALLY for 10 years. And to this day - my Satellite blows. I mean, I can play it...but not smoothly and completely and with singing.

Usually with a Dave song, you have to separate the playing from the singing at first and practice the playing until it becomes second nature. Then can overlay the singing and you're able to bring everything back together. (Note: That's the key to the Tripping Billies verse...the singing and the playing don't seem to "go together" until you've mastered the playing part).

But with Satellite...I can't seem to marry the two. And my hand starts to hurt like a bitch after two verses.

P.S. For all of you guys who are old enough to remember the Blue Water Baboon Farm website...I've been prodded and inspired to bring it back. I'll keep you guys posted.
