So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Yeah, tadder. That sounds right. I've just listened to Luther College so many times that I love the sound of it. Its ingrained.

you have to understand that some of the stuff in the intro is tim not dave. some of the hammer on stuff is tim.

just play along with luther and it'll come as you play along with it. you're never going to get anywhere on the guitar, or in life for that matter, if you rely on others to do your work for you.

Unread post by Darklight1701 » Thu Mar 13, 2003 11:15 pm

Hello all, long time fan, first time post.
Since 41 is my fav. song I had to chime in and give my 2 cents, or should I say the way I play the intro-------

#41-Intro
E----------------------------------------------------
B---------------------------8--------3---------------
G------5---------7----------7-------0------0h2-0-----
D------2---------4----------5------4---4-4-------4-0-repeat
A----3----------5---------7------5-------------------
E--5--------7-----------0----------------------------

Thats what I hear on L@LC

LOVE THE SITE!

:o  :D :) :o thanks Darklight and welcome to the boards. by the way when posting tabs its best to use the Code thing (<code> except with [].) it makes all the letters/hyphens/whatever even.

extra little thing for intro dave does solo is...when u do the opening chords and strum them slowly hit the other 2 strings open along with the first two chords if that made any sense so looks like

E:-------0-----0------------------------
B:-------0-----0-----8--3--3----3----
G:-------5-----7-----7-- x--0h4--0h4--
D:-----2-----4-------5---4--x----x----
A:--- -3-----5----7--7--- 5--5----5----
E:-5-5---7-7----------------------

he def does this in the very begging intro and it def sounds a hell of a lot better solo

my 2 cents

i think the tab on this site is a bit off...

E:------------------------------------
B:----------------8---3--3-----3----
G:---5-----7-----4---x--0h4--0h4--
D:---2-----4-----5---4--x-----x----
A:---3-----5---7-7---5--5-----5----
E:-5-5---7-7-------------------------

that's what's listed... however, i play this and it sounds just right...

E:------------------------------------
B:----------------8---3--3-----3----
G:---5-----7-----4---x--0h4--0----
D:---2-----4-----5---4--x-----0h4-
A:---3-----5---7-7---5--5-----5----
E:-5-5---7-7-------------------------

see the difference? hitting the d string on the fourth fret finishes that little progression the way you hear it. just be sure to mute the g string (no pun) when you hammer on the d. hope this helps

L@LC version

Unread post by staker1875 » Thu Mar 27, 2003 9:36 pm

Hey i think that Madtadder has it just about right, but instead of a hamer on on the D, pull off 4. So the hammer ons would look like:

g-------0h4
d------------4p0

good look it sounds good either way! what a great song

i know everyone and their mom has replied to this thread with a minuet note change so here is mine. i play it exactly like it is up there only on the first hammer-on i also pull off to get the open G and then i don't hammer-on the second time, i just strum strings A,D,G,& E holding 5403. i've played the song for a lot of hard-core dave listeners and they all agree that it sounds very accurate. ofcourse sometimes dave hammeron's twice on the G and its all really in what performance you have. i've heard soo many that this is the one i stick with.

# 41 is the sexiest song

Unread post by Davefan41 » Mon Mar 31, 2003 11:06 pm

I love this song so much, the dave and tim version is like beyond amazing, I wanted to learn how to play it, but it never made any sense to me cause the chord structures are really strange, but I did finally get it, I found that if you can do the stretch for the third chord then you'll be able to play it eventually, that was the hardest part for me, and the rest of the song isn't as bad, I love this song to death, I always joked that I was going to learn how to play it and then just get laid like instantly cause it is the sexiest intro and verse and chorus (if you can call it that) riff's ever, I love it a lot, ok that is just my two cents

just another way to switch it up....instead of the x7578x chord...put in a 022033...its tosses in a deeper tone here and there....I go back and forth between the two of them...:)
